Letter: Tired of footing the city’s bill

 

A recent article informed us that the city has hired a consultant to interview candidates to replace the police chief. Furthermore, it stated that the city manager defended the need for the consultant since it has been 17 years since the last recruitment, and the city changed significantly in size and complexity.
On Dec. 8, many residents addressed the council opposing the 10-percent tax levy increase. But their pleas went unheeded as the council approved the 10-percent increase, with Mayor Hedberg lamenting that it was not high enough. I will not enumerate the list of unnecessary spending that was brought up during that meeting, none of which was acknowledged by the council. Paying consultant fees to interview a new police chief should be added to that list. Please read more from the Prior Lake American
